The Gus Solomon Roof Renovation entailed 38,000 SF of roofing area.
The Gus Solomon Roof Renovation entailed 38,000 SF of roofing area. The buildings are both historic buildings so great care was taken to preserve the character of the buildings while installing the best roofing and sustainable technologies to support its longevity. K2M surveyed the existing roof and building envelope to confirm the existing conditions. The existing built-up and sloped roofing was removed and replaced with a new 3-ply modified bitumen roofing system for all slope applications. A standing seam metal was installed on all high slope areas. Repairs were made to the stone coping, stainless steel flashing, caulking, and metal wall panels. Historic skylights were restored and photovoltaics were also installed over the standing seam metal. The team designed a self-laminating system interconnected and fed to a collection system where the power was fed back in to the building to support operations. Renovations were performed to roof monitor metal wall paneling with a compatible product with the metal roofing as well as door replacement and window modifications.
